Nova upsets Nupur Kaul

VIJAYAWADA: Unseeded Nova Patel of Gujarat defeated Nupur Kaul of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the women’s segment in the AITA-Sify all India ranking tournament for men and women at Cosmopolitan Club at Bhimavaram, according to information reaching here on Wednesday.

In the men’s section, 10th seed M. Murali ousted fourth seed Vinod Sridhar 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) to make to the semifinals.

The results: Quarterfinals: Men’s singles: P.C. Vignesh (AP) bt Vinayaka Sharma (AP) 6-3, 6-3.
