Prompt action: Members of the Anti-Adulteration Cell of Indian Oil Corporation checking the fuel quality at a retail outlet on Avanashi Road in Coimbatore on Thursday. — Coimbatore: Officials from the Anti-Adulteration Cell (AAC) of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Wednesday and Thursday conducted surprise checks at various petrol outlets in and around the city. The AAC team comprised R.S. Karnendra, Senior Manager, V. Thirunavukkarasu, Deputy Manager and B. Jagadeesh Kumar from Chennai. The officials were assisted by Senior Divisional Manager P. Kumaravel, Manager, Retail Sales, T. Palanikumar, Deputy Manager B. Shankar and Assistant Manager V.N. Sundaresan. QualityThe AAC officials used to conduct surprise inspection of the petroleum outlets once in three months for stock verification, quality and quantity checks besides inspecting the seals, weights and measures at the bunks. In the last two days, the officials have taken samples and conducted surprise inspections at over 15 outlets across the district. The inspections also included checking of quantity, density of the fuel and fittings in the dispensing mechanism.
