Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court is expected to deliver its judgment in the Coimbatore serial blasts case on Friday. The explosions occurred on February 14, 1998. More than 50 persons lost their lives. The revision petitions challenged the acquittal of the PDP leader, A.N. Maudhany and six others and sought death sentence to Al-Umma (since banned) leader, S.A. Basha and 42 others. Forty-two out of the 43 persons who were punished with life sentence, challenged their conviction. One of them died during pendency of appeal.
