En masse resignations in Karimnagar

Staff Reporter

Venting their ire: Praja Rajyam leaders damaging the party flag-posts in Karimnagar on Thursday.

KARIMNAGAR: Several hundreds of Praja Rajyam activists from the district announced their resignations en masse on Thursday protesting against its party president Chiranjeevi announcing support to united Andhra movement and betraying the Telangana region.

The Praja Rajyam leaders, including fans of the film star, who earlier hailed their leader, now raised slogans against Mr. Chiranjeevi and termed him a betrayer of the region. They destroyed the party flag posts in various parts of the district and set fire to the party flags and effigies of Mr. Chiranjeevi.

At a press conference here, Yuvarajyam district president N. Mahipal, Praja Rajyam district leaders B. Madhu, Venkat and others announced their resignations from the party.

Later, the protesters took out a procession and garlanded the statue of ‘Telangana Thalli’ and paid tributes to the Telangana martyrs at the memorial in the town.
