Potti Sriramulu’s statue vandalised

KHAMMAM: The statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu was vandalised by some unidentified persons near Kothagudem bus station late on Wednesday night triggering protests in the town.

The Congress party workers took out a protest rally condemning the attack on the statue. The TRS activists condemned the incident and took part in the protest rally . The Vysya Sangham leaders who took strong exception to the attack on the statue of Potti Sriramulu, demanded an end to violence in the protests . They resolved to install a bronze statue of the leaders in the same place within a week. They organised a ‘Ksheerabhishekam feat for the statue.

The TRS workers burnt the effigies of the Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi and actor Mohan Babu for their decision to support the agitation for Samaikhya Andhra. They made it clear that the movies of the leaders who all went with United Andhra Pradesh slogan would not be allowed for exhibited in Telangana districts. Similar protesters were organised in Khammam.

The TRS activists staged a protest demonstration in front of a theater in Bhadrachalam town demanding the management to stop screening of Arya -2. They also burnt the posters of the movie in front of the hall. Timely intervention of police helped in subsiding the din.
