Vijayawada
Takes a dig at Naidu for not supporting Samaikya Andhra agitation VIJAYAWADA: The movement for a united Andhra Pradesh was as important as a second struggle for independence, said NTR-TDP president N. Lakshmi Parvati on Thursday. Speaking from the dais on which Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal was sitting on an indefinite fast, she said that history would not excuse the political parties that were responsible for the division of Andhra Pradesh. She said Vijayawada had always been the land of warriors. The struggle for independence was waged from this hallowed land and now it was from here that a war for a united Andhra Pradesh was being waged. It was great opportunity to test out might and valour, she said. A division was brought between the regions by “selfish vested interests” long ago, but then the people came to terms and even intermarried. How was it possible to separate daughters-in-law with their mothers-in-law, she asked. Recalling how she had confronted K. Chandrasekhara Rao on the issue of language, she said what was being claimed as “Telangana language” had no script of its own nor did it has a history or culture of its own. She said the Telangana leaders were working with the vested interest to maintain a grip over the people and safeguard their leadership. But for the support of “aged jackals” in the Congress, who were looking for rehabilitation, the TRS members would never have been elected. There was no movement for Telangana. Ms. Lakshmi Parvathi asserted that the “Samaikyandhra movement” was a real one. By expressing support for it, Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi had turned into a ‘real hero’ and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu by not supporting became a ‘zero’.
