plea to Chief Election Commissioner

CHENNAI: V. Maitreyan, leader of the AIADMK in Rajya Sabha, has requested the Chief Election Commissioner to send additional para-military forces to the Vandavasi and Tiruchendur assembly constituencies to ensure free and fair election on December 19.

In a letter submitted to the CEC on Thursday in New Delhi, Rajya Sabha member stated that DMK ministers, MPs, MLAs and other important party functionaries planned to defy the Election Commission’s directive in which non-voters were asked to leave the constituencies by 5 p.m. on December 17.
