‘Russian biotech firms keen on joint ventures’
HYDERABAD: Russian Biotechnology Society is keen to partner with Indian biotech companies to set up joint ventures in different areas including pharma and agri-biotech.
Disclosing this to reporters here on Thursday, the Society’s president Raif G. Vasilov praised the enormous progress made by India in biotechnology sector. He said for the first time a delegation of representatives from Russian companies and government officials would be participating in the seventh edition of Bio-Asia, being held here from February 3 to 6. The size of Russian pharma industry was $ 15 billion and expected to touch $ 50 billion by 2020.
He also announced that Russia would be joining the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) as its 20th member. Secretary-General FABA, B. S. Bajaj, said Bio Asia-2010 would be a four-track event focusing on Medical Biotechnology, Biopharmaceuticals, Agri Biotechnology and Animal Biotechnology. Around 6,000 delegates were expected to participate. Delegations led by Biocat ( Barcelona), European Business and Technology Centre, Assoication of German Biotechonlogy Companies, UK Trade and Investment and FABA chapters from Taiwan, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, UAE and Japan would also attend the conference.
He said more than 100 participants were expected to put up stalls in the international tradeshow to be organised during the event.
