Samaikya Andhra stir gets mega fillip

Staff Reporter

ELURU: The unified Andhra stand taken by Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi gave a fillip to the agitation launched in West Godavari district. A day after the decision of Mr. Chiranjeevi to resign to his legislative membership and join the movement for the unified State, his party functionaries took out a procession in his praise on Thursday. The procession culminated in a meeting at Vasanta Mahal centre where relay fasts were launched under the aegis of all-party action committee and NGO and Teacher organisations. All-party action committee leader Rajanala Ramamohan Rao hailed Mr. Chiranjeevi’s decision to join the pro-integrated State movement. He appealed to Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP to break his ‘silence’ and strive for the unity of the State. Meanwhile, the district witnessed novel protests on Thursday too. The agitators offered roses to police, bus commuters and traders in Bhimavaram wishing the unity of the State to be intact.
