Sperm whale found dead

DEAD: The sperm whale which drifted ashore at Arcotthurrai in Nagapattinam on Thursday.

NAGAPATTINAM: A sperm whale was washed ashore at Arcottuthurai in Vedaranyam on Thursday morning. The 24 feet long female whale with mid-girth of 9 feet weighed about 8 to 10 tonne.

According to the V.Thirunavukarasu, District Forest Officer, the sperm whale could have died a week ago. The autopsy was performed by Vedaranyam veterinary surgeon.
