LENDING SUPPORT: Actress R. K. Roja raising slogans in favour of a unified State at the Potti Sriramulu statue in Tirupati on Saturday. TIRUPATI: After Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi’s visit to the dharna tents of all political parties and ‘Samaikhyandhra’ protagonists here on Friday, it was the turn of film actress and former Telugu Mahila president, R.K. Roja, on Saturday, to do so. After the customary offer of floral tributes at the Potti Sriramulu statue, she drove straight to the SVU campus where the students have been on a relay hunger strike denouncing bifurcation of the State. She sat for nearly an hour at the camp and even joined the chorus when the students sang a ‘Jai Andhra’ number. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Roja asserted that bifurcation would only weaken the State. She appealed to those engaged in the agitation to see through the game being played by vested interests to plunge the State into chaos. On Mr. Chiranjeevi joining the ‘Jai Andhra’ chorus, Roja said everybody has to bow before the will and sentiments of the people.
