Daggubati Rana HYDERABAD: Some details of a film about which very little was revealed to the media for months despite the hype it enjoyed, it came to be known this week that ‘Leader’, directed by Sekhar Kammula and produced by AVM, was showcased as an intense political drama. The details were officially communicated only after it got an ‘U’ certificate at the Censor Board. The first copy is expected out in a day or two. Interestingly, Kammula has carved out a name for himself as a guy who makes ‘clean’ films. Against such a backdrop, ‘Leader’ getting a ‘U’ certificate speaks volumes. And this despite the fact that there is an item number by Udayabhanu, who is making waves on television. When quizzed about the film, all that debutant hero Daggubati Rana, grandson of movie moghul D. Rama Naidu, would say is that it was a combination of an ideal leader elected by people and how the ‘neta’ goes about delivering on his promises. Richa Gangopadhya and Priya Anand, both new faces, are cast opposite him.
