Security tightened in Medak district

Staff Reporter

SANGAREDDY: In view of the ongoing agitations for the separate Talanagna state and Unified Andhra Pradesh, the Police Department in Medak district is taking extra precautions. There was an ample indication to how things would unfold in the near future if the tempers raise as a sequel to the current agitations.

The department with the help of Revenue officials identified about 120 areas in the district where the population of migrants is substantial. The areas identified were located at Siddipet, Gajwel, Toguta, Medak, Toopran, Patancheru, Ramachandrapuram, Sadasivapet, Papannapet and Machavaram in addition to some other areas. Similarly, the assets owned by the migrants were also identified to provide security, which includes at least one engineering college, some factories and some residential colonies. The number of pickets has been increased from the existing 82 to 98 where at least two police personnel were posted with round-the-clock security. On the same lines, 59 areas were covered for patrolling, which includes these pickets. “This is a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident,” SP M. Kanta Rao informed The Hindu.
