Grama Vidiyal of Tiruchi receives Srijan award

TIRUCHI: Grama Vidiyal Micro Finance Limited, an organisation with headquarters in Tiruchi, has recently been presented with the ‘MFI Transparency Award – Srijan 2009’ at Mumbai by Intellecap and Standard Chartered Bank, the joint sponsors of the award.

Operating self-sufficiency, new methodologies implemented, technology front, sustainability and social impact were taken as parameters by the jury for the award. D. Shirley, vice-president and chief financial officer of Grama Vidiyal Micro Finance Limited, presented the activities of the organisation before the jury.

The company started in 1986 had been providing micro loans to the tune of Rs.275 crore so far to the poor women in Tamil Nadu through its 200 branches benefiting more than 5.50 lakh women borrowers.
