Special rebate will be available on bulk purchase of products at the exhibition
SELF HELP IS THE BEST HELP: S.S. Kumar, Project Officer, DRDA, having a glimpse of the exhibits made by self-help groups in Pudukottai.
PUDUKOTTAI: Lack of marketing avenues has been a major bottleneck in selling the products being made by the women members of self-help groups. With a view to ensuring marketability for their products, District Supply and Marketing Society (DSMS) has been organising special sales programmes and exhibitions.
Timed with the Christmas festival, New Year’s Day and the Pongal festivals, the DSMS has organised a month-long exhibition at the Town Hall grounds in the town.
“The exhibition caters to the needs and tastes of different sections of people and different age-groups,” says DSMS secretary S. Sathyaseelan.
The exhibits, among other things, include handicrafts mainly used for interior decoration, Thanjavur art works, wooden toys and terracotta wares. To promote ecology, the nurseries are also on display.
Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, S.S. Kumar, inaugurated the exhibition which is open between 4 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. till January 10.
Special rebate would be available on bulk purchase of the products, the Secretary added.
