Students ‘ransack’ principal’s office

BERHAMPUR: A group of agitating students of the Khallikote Autonomous College campus on Tuesday allegedly ransacked the office of the principal of the institute. They also burnt tyres to block the National Highway 217 that passes in front of the college. According to sources despite all this the examinations that were continuing in the institute were not disrupted.

Since Monday evening a group of students had been on hunger strike inside the office room of the principal. They were demanding action against some policemen of Kodala police station in Ganjam district who had allegedly misbehaved with the president of the students’ union.

On Tuesday morning these students claimed that some of them had become ill and they had to be shifted to the MKCG medical college hospital. Alleging delay in calling up ambulance, they allegedly ransacked the office of the principal. The Sub-Collector, SDPO and armed policemen had to rush to the spot to pacify the students.
