KOZHIKODE: Khalfan M. Al-Esry, orator and management expert from the Sultanate of Oman, has called upon Muslim youth to join hands to fortify resistance against terrorism and religious extremism. Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a Youth convention, organised by the district unit of the Muslim Youth League here on Tuesday, Mr. Al-Esry said youth power should always be channelised for creative and constructive purposes. He said the youth would make an impact on society only when they use their energy for activities involving nation-building; more so in the present social context where the Muslim community was being viewed with suspicion due to terrorist activities in different parts’ of the world. “We have to spread the message of peace… we have to live as true Muslims upholding the values of Islam to eliminate the misunderstanding some people have about our religion,” Mr. Al-Esry said. C.P.A. Azeez, district president, Youth League; T.A. Ahammed Kabir, State secretary of Indian Union Muslim League; K.T. Abdu Rahman, general secretary of the district Youth League and leaders of Muslim League also spoke. Discussions on ‘Politics of minorities,’ and ‘Fascism, militancy and social justice’ were organised as part of the youth convention.
