Mareppa lambasts Congress leaders

Special Correspondent

KADAPA: Former Minister A. Mareppa lambasted PCC president D. Srinivas, Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao and senior Congress leaders K. Keshav Rao and G. Venkataswamy on Tuesday and alleged that they lacked sanity.

Lamenting that the State was in turmoil within three months of the demise of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Mr. Mareppa said such a situation would not have arisen had YSR been alive. The State was unfortunate to have lost him prematurely, he said. He called on Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranath Reddy and Congress MLAs C. Adinarayana Reddy, G. Srikanth Reddy and K. Srinivasulu, whose indefinite hunger strike before Kadapa Collectorate entered the third day on Tuesday.

Mr. Mareppa maintained that the Telangana movement was launched by some politically unemployed leaders who yearned for positions and money. All Telugu-speaking people should be united and speak in one voice, he said. The former Minister wanted Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy made Chief Minister to fill the void created by YSR’s demise. Mr. Mareppa hoped an announcement favourable to ‘Samaikyandhra’ by Christmas.

Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranath Reddy said the unified State agitation percolated to every household. The State’s unity should be ensured by involving all sections, he said.
