VIJAYAWADA: Under the coordinated efforts of the ‘Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi’, students of nearly 12 universities have decided to play a greater role and come to the centre-stage of the united Andhra Pradesh agitation so as to take it to its logical conclusion by exerting a lot of pressure on the Central government in the days to come.

Representatives of these universities spread across the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema met here on Tuesday at the initiative of State president of ‘Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi’ Naraharisetti Srihari, and chalked out their future course of action for intensifying the ongoing agitation by mobilising more number of youths and ensuring their active participation in protest programmes.

They have lined up activities for the next one week, which include rasta roko and rail roko programmes in association with the all-party Joint Action Committee.

Mr. Srihari would serve as the legal adviser to the students’ Joint Action Committee comprising leaders from all the universities.

Vital push

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Srihari said it was decided to give a greater say and role for the young generation and the students of universities in the current pro-integration agitation with the objective of giving it a vital push, as the struggle now needs more energy and dynamism to reach its peak. The presence of the youth will show the powers in Delhi of the likely consequences if they go ahead with their plan to divide the prosperous and progressive State.
