Ramanujan birth anniversary celebrated

VISAKHAPATNAM: Mathematics Day marking the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan was celebrated at Sri Gowri Degree and PG College at Kancharapalem on Tuesday.

Andhra University Mathematics professor G.C. Rao and Mrs. AVN College Mathematics lecturer N. Ramakrishna addressed students. The portrait of Srinivasa Ramanujan was garlanded and tributes paid to him.

College Principal P. Narasimha Rao, who presided recalled the manner in which the math genius spread the fame of the country far and wide. Math Head of the Department A. Nageswara Rao gave away mementoes and certificates to winners in competitions in the subject.

College governing body Chairman Bhisetty Suribabu, Correspondent K. Suryanaryana and treasurer S. Satyanarayana spoke. Vice-Principal A. Ramani participated.
