Formation of Telangana certain: Jayashankar

HYDERABAD: Telangana ideologue K. Jayashankar has observed that a mutually agreeable way out of the present imbroglio in the State revolving around separation of Telangana was not possible. He asserted that Telangana formation is certain beyond any iota of doubt.

Hyderabad, which was an integral part of Telangana, was the bone of contention of politicians from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions driven by pocketful of major realtors, Prof. Jayashankar stated in a meet the press programme organised by Arya Pratinidhi Sabha here on Tuesday.

Communal friction

He set aside fears of Hyderabad not being part of Telangana and said it was as much certain as Telangana. There will be turmoil in the region if Hyderabad is kept out of Telangana and the city itself would face communal friction, if it was made a separate entity, Prof. Jayashankar warned.

Telangana movement had gone beyond self-centred politicians and political parties, the former Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University reasoned. Exploitation of the region’s peoples in terms of resources, culture and employment opportunities was continuing for long and it had become vigorous in the unified State, he pointed out.

The Centre going back on its decision on separation was neither possible nor desirable, he felt.
