Hospital samples reveal no contamination

Tirupur: Tests conducted on swab samples and surgical equipment of St Lutheran Mission Eye Hospital at Dharapuram, where seven persons developed vision problems after surgery recently, revealed no traces of contamination. Health Department officials told The Hindu that the tests, carried out at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, had confirmed that there was no bacterial growth in the swab samples as well as the surgical instruments. Health officials said that the victims were yet to regain full sight.
