TIRUCHI: St. Joseph’s College of Engineering won all its semifinal league matches to clinch the K.S. Muthusamy Pillai Rolling Trophy at the State-level inter-engineering colleges ball badminton tournament, organised by Jayaram CET, here on Wednesday. Vel’s Srinivasa CET finished second with two wins and PSG Tech secured third place with a solitary win. The results (semifinal league): St. Joseph’s CE bt Vel’s Srinivasa CET 29-26, 29-28; PSG Tech bt Jayaram CET 29-19, 29-21. Chess tournamentThe Karur Chess Association will conduct the 21st State-level open chess tournament for the R. Neelaveni Ammal Memorial Cup and 6th State-level juniors’ chess tournament for the A. Veerappan Chettiar Memorial Cup on January 2 and 3 at V.N.C Mahal, Karur. The tournament for the juniors will be conducted in under-15, 11, 13, 9 and 7 age categories for both boys and girls.
