Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: A three-day international conference on the effective role Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and other appropriate technologies can play in achieving the Millennium Development Goals(MDG) is being organised by RMK and RMD Engineering Colleges from December 27.
Eminent scientists and technologists, corporate executives, NGOs, academicians and research scholars would debate and share knowledge, best practices and case studies at the conference, to be held at RMK Engineering College campus in Kavaraipettai, near here. The subjects to be discussed include implications of environmental change on climate, need for new and renewable energy, applications of mobile communication for rural banking and agriculture, rural infrastructure development and the use of IT for literacy.
Panel discussion
There will also be a panel discussion on Gandhian Engineering and an exhibition, in which some NGOs and other organisations would showcase their work of applying technology to achieve MDGs.
School and college students selected through an essay competition on MDGs would also participate in the meet.
