Bar Association to suggest the land housing the NGO Quarters for the proposed court complex.

KOLLAM: The district committee of the Kerala NGO Union has protested against the Kollam Bar Association’s (KBA) decision to suggest the land housing the NGO Quarters for the proposed court complex in Kollam.

In a statement, association secretary Basil Joseph said the KBA decision came at a time when moves were on to construct more quarters for the employees.

The number of quarters at present was too few and applications from the employees for allocation of quarters were pending for many years.

Alternative

He said the land identified by the revenue authorities near the Kollam SP office should be utilised for the purpose.

The Kerala NGO Association also registered its protest against the KBA decision.

More quarters

District president Chavara Jayakumar said the association and the employees had been raising the demand for constructing more housing quarters because of the high rent for houses.

The quarters complex proposed by the KBA for the court complex had 46 houses and the number of pending applications for the quarters was much higher.
