Fishermen from Myanmar drift ashore

VEDARANYAM: Three fishermen from Myanmar were found to have drifted ashore at Kodiakkarai here on Saturday morning. Their bamboo vessel, 25 ft long, 14 ft wide and of 5ft depth with a Myanmar flag, was spotted ashore at Kodiakarrai by a forest worker.

The fishermen were not found to possess any identity card, and handicap of language had posed a problem in ascertaining facts. A case has been registered under the Indian Passport Act and they have been detained at the Vedaranyam police station. Ayemin (31), Dhatzin (30), Lyamyodhat (25) are believed to be from Yangoon province of Myanmar. — Staff Reporter
