London: The police have launched a murder investigation into the death of businessman Mahesh Mehta, who was brutally assaulted in south London on October 19. Mehta, 55, who migrated from India to the U.K. 30 years ago and built a vegetable wholesale company there, was kicked and punched by assailants as he lay on the ground outside a HSBC branch. They fled with a small amount of his money. Mehta was rushed to hospital with a broken eye socket, smashed nose and facial injuries. He died on November 13. The police believe that Mehta’s death could be linked to several robberies of customers leaving banks in the area. — PTI
