Meeting held in Pidingoyyi attended by veteran leaders

KCR has lost his credibility: Harirama Jogaiah

Current situation a wake-up call, says convener

Rajahmundry: After ‘Samaikyandhra’ (unified Andhra), a section of people picked up ‘Jai Andhra’ slogan here and a few political leaders from outside the district assembled here along with local leaders and held a day-long debate on necessity of separate Andhra with 13 districts, including Rayalaseema.

The meeting was held in Pidingoyyi and veteran leaders like Harirama Jogaiah, Maddipoti Krishna Rao and Dara Sambaiah, former MLA, Kudipudi Suryanarayana, BJP senior leader Somu Verraju and Chalasani Srinivas (Andhra Intellectual Forum) attended the meeting. Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar came to the meeting and extended his solidarity by his short presence.

Harirama Jogaiah, senior political leader in his address made a new point that Hyderabad should be made second capital to the Country after Delhi or it should be declared as Union Territory like Chandigarh. He spoke in detail about Mulki rule, six-point formula during 1953 and 1972 during which Andhra people were forced out from Hyderabad and also from Telangana. He said that KCR lost his credibility and has no support from political parties. He reiterated that Jai Andhra means it includes Rayalaseema districts also and they did not want to keep the Seema area people away from them.

Natural resources

Chalasani Srinivas gave details about statistics and ratio of share between Andhra and Telangana from 1953. He said on population basis Andhra should get three fourth of the share and Telangana should get one fourth share. He said that Telangana is no less than Andhra as far as natural resources were concerned and Andhra people used them in better way while Telangana people themselves neglected them all these years.

‘Paying more’

He said that Eastern Power Distribution Company was charging 80 paise extra than Telangana power distribution companies, and most of the free power connections are in Telangana area only. He claimed that Bhadrachalam should be given to Andhra people. Maddipati Krishna Rao, convener of the Jai Andhra said that Jai Andhra movement started in 1972 and this is a wake-up call for Andhra people.

He said that it is the responsibility of intellectuals, students and literates along with media to highlight how Andhra was deceived at the hands of Telangana people.
