Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Secretary Dinesh Rai inaugurating the exhibition at Dilli Haat. NEW DELHI: To strengthen marketing efforts to promote products manufactured by entrepreneurs and institutions, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, New Delhi, has organised a three-week-long exhibition at Dilli Haat opposite INA Market here. Inaugurated by Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Secretary Dinesh Rai this past week, the exhibition has on display eco-friendly herbal products, ready-made garments, health food, handicrafts and hand-made paper items. The exhibition, organised by KVIC in coordination with the Rural Employment Generation Programme Entrepreneurs’ Welfare Association, is open for viewing up to January 10. ParticipantsNearly 35 entrepreneurs from nine States are participating in the exhibition, selling exclusive khadi and village industries products. According to KVIC, it has been generating rural employment in the country through its various programmes. More than one crore people are engaged in the khadi and village industries sector producing products exceeding Rs.17,000 crore. There is a large demand for khadi products on account of their eco-friendly character. In fact, there are 7,050 outlets across the country that sell khadi products. About 200 exhibitions are organised by KVIC every year to promote the sale of khadi and village industries products.
