Party only till 12.30 a.m., police tell Mysoreans

Mysore: Mysore district police are making preparations to maintain law and order in the city during the New Year celebrations. City Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal has asked the public, hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs, resorts, pubs and various organisations and associations to strictly abide by the rules and regulations.

In a press release issued here on Monday, Mr. Agarwal said that the New Year celebrations that will commence on the evening of December 31 must end by 12.30 a.m. Proprietors, managements and administrators of clubs, pubs, resorts, hotels and organisations that are organising the New Year parties must obtain permission from the police authorities before December 29.

Use of public address system will be permitted if prior permission is sought, the release added.

“Those using the public address system should not disturb the public. They should restrict the sound amplification to their premises using box speakers. If people lodge complaints with the police on neighbours disturbing them and causing inconvenience, then the police will take action against the guilty. Obscene dances in the guise of cultural programmes will not be allowed,” Mr. Agarwal said in the release.

He said that the organisers of New Year parties should take steps to prevent any untoward incidents likely to occur during the celebrations.

He suggested that people partying late into the night should take the services of a driver to go back home.
