Lucknow: Eight persons were arrested from different parts of Uttar Pradesh and spurious medicines with a face value of over Rs.1 crore were seized during a special drive launched by food and drug control department. “A fortnight-long special drive was carried out recently in 14 districts to check the sale of spurious and fake medicines. During the drive, medicines worth Rs.1.37 crore were seized and cases were lodged against nine person, of which eight were arrested,” an official spokesman said here on Monday. Two shops in Varanasi and one each in Agra, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and Mau, which were running without drug licence, were sealed.
