COIMBATORE: Vashikatti Mental Health Centre and Research Institute at Peelamedu in the city will conduct a post-graduate course (M.Sc) in counselling and psychotherapy under the distance education programme of the Tamil Nadu Open University. A post-graduate diploma (one year) in psychological counselling will also be conducted. The health centre has been chosen as a regional training centre for the course for the western region of the State, it has said. The course is useful for doctors, nurses, counsellors, special educators, teachers, social workers, psychology and sociology graduates, occupational therapists, human resources personnel, leaders and trainers in the corporate sector. According to the centre, the uniqueness of the programme is that the training will be done by those involved in the training. That is why a mental health centre has been chosen to conduct it.
