A boat each to be sent to Ankola, Kumta and Bhatkal

Karwar: The Coastal Security Police (CSP) of Uttara Kannada district has acquired three new high speed boats, each costing Rs. 3 crore, on Saturday. A.R. Infant, Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) inaugurated the boats at CSP jetty near Karwar port.

Speaking after inaugurating the boats, Mr. Infant said the three high speed boats would improve the capacity of the CSP and help the police to check illegal activities. A large number of people were being trained in the modern security skills, he added.

Mr. Infant sought the cooperation and help of the public and the fishermen in curbing illegal and anti-national activities in the coastal areas. He said the new boats would help the CSP to check the illegal trafficking of the drugs, liquor, and smuggling through the sea.

Karwar has already one speed boat and of three new boats one each would be sent to Ankola, Kumta and Bhatkal, said the sources.

Channappa Gowda, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada, presided over the meeting. He called for improving security in the coastal areas.

Raman Gupta, Superintendent of police and Bhagwandas Superintendent of police CSP, were present on the occasion.
