Brainstorming: Congress legislators from Telangana at a meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday. HYDERABAD: Congress legislators from Telangana region have threatened to launch an intense agitation if the crucial January 5 all-party meeting convened by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram fails to come out with a concrete road map in the direction of formation of separate Telangana State. Telangana MLAs and MLCs, who opposed the indefinite bandh proposed by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti in the Telangana joint action committee, said they were not averse to indefinite bandhs, blockade of national highways and other modes of agitation to mount pressure on the Centre. “The focus is now on the January 5 meeting as our future course of action will depend on it,” former Minister R. Damodar Reddy said on Sunday. A 10-member delegation of the Telangana MLAs and MLCs would leave for New Delhi on Monday to extend their solidarity with the Telangana representatives nominated by the Congress party to attend the meeting. Apart from Mr. Damodar Reddy, MLAs -- B. Saraiah, P. Kista Reddy and Ch. Muthyam Reddy -- and MLCs -- K. Yadav Reddy, B.V. Mohan Reddy, T. Bhanuprasad, N. Indrasain Reddy -- among others, would go to New Delhi. Mr. Damodar Reddy, however, said the All India Congress Committee was yet to finalise the name of the leader who would represent Telangana in the meeting. Referring to the show cause notice served on IT Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Mr. Damodar Reddy said the party leadership should initiate action against all the leaders who went against its decision. Accordingly, action should be initiated against MLAs J.C. Diwakar Reddy and D.L. Ravindra Reddy who submitted their resignations in protest against the Centre’s December 9 announcement. The party should also initiate disciplinary action against Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who rushed into the well of Lok Sabha along with TDP MPs carrying placards in support of unified Andhra Pradesh.
