‘CPI firm on separate Telangana’

HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India has reiterated its stand in favour of separate Telangana and asserted that the party would ask the Centre to clarify the apprehensions being raised by the people from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions while initiating the process for formation of Telangana State.

CPI State secretary K. Narayana, accompanied by the party’s floor leader in the Assembly G. Mallesh is leaving for New Delhi on Monday to attend the January 5 meeting convened by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram for evolving a road map for consultations on Telangana issue. Dr. Narayana said the party would highlight the resolution passed at its national Congress in Hyderabad 2008 and the recent Bangalore national Congress in support of separate Telangana. “Our change on Telangana continues to be the same and we will communicate the same to the Centre,” Dr. Narayana told The Hindu.
