Poor home celebrates 112th wedding

Thiruvananthapuram: The Sree Chitra Home for Destitute and Infirm here, on Sunday, celebrated the wedding of Sandhya, the 112th occupant of the poor home to tie the knot. She married Sanal Kumar of Rajaji Nagar. Forest Minister Benoy Viswom attended the function.

She had arrived at the Sri Chitra Home at the age of four, along with her brother. He had left the home after attaining the age of major. She was a member of the home’s band, ballet and dance troupes. The Vidyavivek National Charitable Trust funded the marriage. A Sri Chitra Home statement said the trust also donated a wheelchair to a temporary employee of the institution.

V. Surendran Pillai and V. Sivankutty, MLAs; Rajendradas and Vanchiyoor Mohan, councillors; and K.C. Sekhar, M. Gopinathan Nair and B.S. Krishna Kumar, office-bearers of the trust, were present.
