Indiramma beneficiaries not paid bills for two years


SRIKAKULAM: The Zilla Parishad general body meeting on Tuesday approved a surplus budget of Rs.5.5 crores for 2010-11. ZP Chairman Palavalasa Rajasekharam introduced the budget that projected a revenue of Rs.299.77 crores and Rs.294.27 crores as expenditure.

District Collector N. Srikant who was in the chair said action would be taken against ‘negligent’ Housing officials and staff and they should not be shifted. Cattle were being bought from Coimbatore for giving away under the ‘Pasukranti’ padhakam.

Palasa MLA J. Jagannayakulu wanted officials to hold mandal-level reviews on the programmes introduced by late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy for their better implementation. DCMS Chairman G. Krishna Murthy said beneficiaries under the ‘Indiramma’ housing scheme had not been paid bills for two years. Srikakulam ZPTC M. Suguna urged bank and DRDA officials to take steps for extending bridge loans to housing beneficiaries to help them continue construction. LN Peta ZPTC S. Tejeswara Rao also brought up the issue of non-payment of bills.

Mandasa ZPTC Andala Seshagiri Rao urged that agricultural incentives should be given to all mandals equally. Appreciating the action taken by the District Collector on sexual harassment in ashram schools, he urged that only woman teachers be appointed in girls’ schools.

MLAs M. Neelakantham Naidu, B. Satyavathi, N. Sugreevulu, Dharmana Krishnadas, Korla Bharathi, ZP CEO and Agriculture Joint Director N.V. Ramana, Housing District Manager Vidaysagara, SC Corporation Executive Director Mahalakshmi participated.
