Second phase from today

CHENNAI: The second phase of the TNCA first division cricket league will get underway on Wednesday after the break for the Ranji Trophy.

Rounds six, seven and eight will be played in the second phase, which will be followed by a break. Rounds nine, ten, and eleven will comprise the third and concluding league phase, which will likely begin in the last week of January.

Vijay and India Pistons lead the league table after five rounds, and together with Globe Trotters and Grand Slam make up the top four.

Standings (after five rounds): Vijay, India Pistons (28 pts), Globe Trotters (24 pts), Grand Slam (23 pts), Aruna, Jolly Rovers (21 pts), Parry’s (15 pts), Young Stars (13 pts), IOB (12 pts), UFCC T. Nagar (10 pts), Indian Bank and Southern Railway (9 pts). — Special Correspondent
