Lorry owners’ plea on tax

VIJAYAWADA: Stating that the transport industry witnessed a huge slump in the last three months due to natural calamities and political agitations in the State, general secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association Y.V. Eswara Rao on Wednesday urged the State government to withdraw the proposal to increase quarterly tax on transport vehicles.

“In October, our business had come to a standstill due to floods,” Mr. Rao recalled.
