Essay competition for college students

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Madras Medical College is organising an essay contest on ‘Impact of lifestyle modification on gastrointestinal disorders’ as part of its 175th year celebrations. The contest is open to all college students in the State who are pursuing a recognised course.

Some of the important lifestyle factors linked to GI disorders are consumption of junk food, tobacco and alcohol.

The essays must not merely identify problems but also suggest good practice to bring about change at the individual and societal level, a press release said.

Participants may put forth creative approaches to achieve lifestyle modification. The essays should be of a maximum of 1,500 words either in Tamil or English and should be e-mailed to ghgastro@gmail.com before 6 p.m. on January 15.

Contestants must provide their name, course and institution, mobile number, e-mail id, roll number in college and complete postal address.

The three best essays will be chosen for award and a certificate of merit, which will be presented at a function on the Republic Day.
