“Create strong vision in our youth”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Youth power is the core strength of the nation, which should be channelised in the right direction, said Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, here on Friday.

Speaking after inaugurating a seminar on ‘Technology Revolution – Youth’s Perspective,’ jointly organised by Developers India and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Mr. Barnala said through education and training programmes this source should be strengthened. They should be made into wealth generators.

Creation of a strong vision and dedication among the youth was the need of the hour, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Andrew T. Simkin, Consul General of the United States of America said the older people were comfortable with whatever things they grew up with. They were dependent on the youth to learn about the technological advancements.

Praising the topic as a pertinent one, C.R. Kesavan, vice-president of RGNIYD said it had an enduring impact on the society. This is an information age in which the people moved from analogue to the digital technology. Technology had played a tremendous role in making transparent transactions and better functioning of Governments, he added.

Harbhajan Singh, Founder Secretary of Developers India, and Michael Vetha Siromony, Director, RGNIYD, spoke on the occasion.
