Vodafone launches M-shop on IVR

KOCHI: Mobile service provider Vodafone has launched M-shop on Interactive Voice Response platform.

Talking to reporters, R. Suresh, chief operating officer of Vodafone Essar, Kerala, said subscribers can recharge any prepaid connection, pay postpaid bills and recharge Dish TV connections through this platform. Subscribers will also be provided soon with facilities to buy flowers and gifts, and books through M-shop. Transactions can be carried out by using a Visa or MasterCard credit card.

He said the IVR-based service is a first among telecom providers in the country. Both postpaid bill payments and recharge will be updated in the back-end systems almost real time. All prepaid and postpaid Vodafone subscribers can use this facility.

Vodafone will also provide facilities like payment of utility bills, Tata Sky and other DTH recharge, buying cinema tickets on the M-shop IVR platform soon. It will be enable debit cards, direct bank account debits, and other payment options in the future.

He said that prepaid customers in Kerala can now avail themselves of local and national SMS by easy Bonus Card recharges. Numbers of choice were also now available. The cellular provider is also offering Flash Message Service, which will alert customers on different topics like general knowledge, career tips, personality development, history, beauty tips, movies, sports, etc . Once customers get an alert, they can send an SMS for further information on the subject. The SMS is chargeable at Rs.3. Customers can also choose “deactivate” option to stop the alerts.

All the new prepaid cards will have services menu, which will enable customers to access all the value-added services and utility services, just at the click of a button. There are a wide range of services available on this menu, including astrology, news, jokes, scores, PNR status, STD/ISD codes and many more.
