good: P. Moorthy, Superintendent of Police, honouring a traffic police in Pudukottai on Friday. PUDUKOTTAI: Cash prizes and certificates were presented to police personnel and stations here on Friday. Certificates of appreciation were given to 15 police stations and seven police officials in recognition of their services under various categories. The Ganesh Nagar police station bagged three certificates under the category of maximum recovery of stolen property, clearance of passport verification files and motor vehicle petty cases. Speaking on the sidelines of the function, P. Moorthy, Superintendent of Police, said that Ganesh Nagar police station registered cent per cent recovery of stolen property worth Rs.9.31 lakh during the year 2009. The station ranked first in clearing all the 1,232 files pertaining to the issue or renewal of Passports. It also registered a maximum number of 6,217 motor vehicle cases during the period. The officials who were honoured with certificate included V. Chidambaranathan, Additional Superintendent of Police, A. Saravanan, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Aranthangi, K. Swaminathan, G. Kaliyamoorthy, A. Sheik Ahmed and S. Natarajan, all Deputy Superintendents of Police, P. Datchinamoorthy and V.S. Kalivarathan, both Inspectors of Police. The certificates were in honour of efficient crime detection, maintenance of the sub-division, enforcement of traffic regulations, the Superintendent of Police said. Mr. Moorthy also gave away cash award to 29 personnel in appreciation of their services for immediate detection of crime, prompt intelligence, clearance of ‘Right to Information’ papers, reduction in pending cases. The ministerial staff attached to the District Police Office were honoured for their proper upkeep and speedy disposal of files.
