TRS chief returns to Hyderabad

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president and Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha member K. Chandrasekhar Rao returned to Hyderabad on Monday evening after a week-long stay here, mobilising support for the statehood demand.

JAC meet

His son and party general secretary K. Taraka Rama Rao said the next course of action would be decided when the all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) meets in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao would brief the JAC about his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Sunday.

Asked whether the TRS, which was urging the Centre to immediately announce the “mechanism” for the continuation of the separate State process, was satisfied with the meeting with Dr. Singh, Mr. Rama Rao said, “You will know everything during the JAC meeting.”

Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao came to Delhi on January 3 to participate in the January 5 all-party meeting. He met CPI general secretary A.B. Bardhan to seek the party’s support for the Telangana movement. On January 6, he had a separate meeting with Home Minister P. Chidambaram where he urged the latter to expedite the “mechanism” as the TRS could not wait too long.

Earlier the Telangana JAC had met here and decided to continue the pro-Telangana stir peacefully without causing hindrance to the people till the Centre announced a time-frame for the State’s formation.
