Chitradurga: Several people with disabilities, under the banner of Chitradurga District Disabled Welfare Association, staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday.

In a memorandum submitted to the Government through Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas, they demanded concession on bus passes to enable the people with disabilities travel across the State. Their other demands were proper implementation of the welfare schemes for the people with disabilities, and framing of policies for the welfare of the people with disabilities.

The memorandum said that the Government should fill up 670 backlog vacancies that are there in several government departments and regularise the services of the people with disabilities working on contract.
