Davangere: A large number of BJP workers took out a procession here on Monday in protest against the derogatory remarks by the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda against Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. The protesters burnt an effigy of Mr. Deve Gowda at Gandhi Circle. They raised slogans against Mr. Gowda agitators raised slogans against Mr. Gowda for making derogatory remarks and they demanded an apology from him. Many senior leaders of the BJP including A.H. Shivayogiswamy, Chief Whip in the Legislative Council and L. Basavaraj, who addressed the agitators strongly condemned the remarks of Mr. Gowda. “We never expected Mr. Gowda to stoop to this level”, they said adding that his remarks made them raise doubts about his mental stability. Mayor of the Davangere City Corporation Uma Prakash, Deputy Mayor B.Lokesh, and other Councillors participated in the agitation. Even in Honnali thousands of BJP workers led by Excise Minister M.P. Renukacharya took out a procession in the town and they burnt the effigy of Mr. Gowda at Sangolli Rayanna Circle. Mr. Renukacharya said that Mr. Gowda should mind his language even while criticising the leaders of other parties. J.B. Hanumanthappa, Manohar, Arundi Jayamma were among other leaders participated in the agitation. In Harihar, a large number of BJP workers led by Harihar MLA B.P. Harish took out a procession protesting against the defamtory remarks of Mr. Gowda against Mr. Yeddyurappa. Staff Correspondent from Hassan reports: BJP activists led by district president Navile Annappa and MLC B.R. Gurudev took out rally from BJP office to Hemavathi statue here on Monday protesting against the statement made by the former Prime Minister.
