Bangalore: The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to take the derogatory remarks made by the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda against Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to the “people’s court” by making it an issue in the coming elections to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council. Meanwhile, senior Ministers — B.N. Bache Gowda (Labour) and C.M. Udasi (Public Works) — have lashed out at the former Prime Minister. Mr. Bache Gowda has called for public protests in all the 224 Legislative Assembly constituencies of the State. The first of such demonstrations would be held on Wednesday at Hoskote, represented by Mr. Bache Gowda in the Assembly. Mr. Bache Gowda, who was for long associated with the Janata Dal and with the former Prime Minister, told presspersons that the foul language used by Mr. Gowda was “unpardonable and reflects his mental health. An apology will not suffice and he should retire from active politics. In fact, he should have quit politics after he stepped down as Prime Minister, but he chose to continue to serve the interests of his children. No where in the country has a senior political leader, leave alone a former Prime Minister, used such language as Mr. Gowda has. He has let down the people of the State and the Vokkaliga community by such utterances”. The BJP MP D.B. Chandre Gowda accused Mr. Gowda of insulting the people of the State by making derogatory remarks against their Chief Minister.
