Maharashtra in semifinals

NEW DELHI: Mohammed Salim Malik (33) and Ghulam Moinuddin (28) pulled Maharashtra through to an 82-71 victory over Chhattisgarh after the team had trailed 31-32 at half-time in the quarterfinals of the 36th National sub-junior basketball championship in Chittorgarh (Rajasthan) on Monday.

The results (quarterfinals): Boys: Madhya Pradesh 79 (Abhinav 22, Assiv 11) bt Punjab 54 (Gurdeep 15, Ajit 12); Maharashtra 82 (Mohammed Salim Malik 33, Ghulam Moinuddin 28) bt Chhattisgarh 71 (Sanjeev 35, Dinesh 13); Uttar Pradesh 68 (Pankaj Kumar 19, Praveen 10) bt Andhra Pradesh 56 (Ambati 22, V. Lalit 12).

Girls: Uttar Pradesh 74 (Preeti 20, Varkha 17) bt Madhya Pradesh 54 (Monika 22, Prachi 16); Chhattisgarh 69 (Sangeeta 22, Swaranjeet 11) bt Tamil Nadu 36 (S. Mitra 13); Kerala 67 (Pooja Mol 18, Elezabeth 17) bt Delhi 47 (Ridhi 16, Soumya 11); Maharashtra 55 (Ishwari 18) bt Haryana 34 (Bharti 17).
