BJP to hold week-long protests from Jan. 24

To organise ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ in Feb.

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a week-long agitation from January 24 by holding demonstrations in all districts and laying siege to the offices of Collectors in protest against the rising prices and hike in APSRTC bus fares.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, State BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya said the party would also organise a ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ in February second week in which top leaders would participate. A protest rally would also be held in front of the Parliament House subsequently. He said the Centre and State governments had failed totally in curbing the price rise.

Artificial scarcity

They criticised the administration for failing to take action against hoarders and traders who were creating artificial scarcity.

On the Telangana issue, he faulted AICC spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi for stating that there was a need for unanimity on bifurcation of the State. It showed the bankruptcy of Congress which was yet to spell out its stand.

He said that both Congress and Telugu Desam were trying to create confusion on the issue.

Separate campaign

While being part of Joint Action Committee of political parties, the BJP would carry on its campaign individually for separate State by holding ‘Racha Banda” programmes and public rallies in Assembly constituencies.

Senior BJP leader N. Indrasena Reddy said it was not proper for TRS leaders and other parties to threaten to stall screening of Telugu movie, ‘Adurs’.

All those who want Telangana State should not air such statements.
