Easy opener for Devvarman

Melbourne: Somdev Devvarman has drawn an easy opponent in local player James Duckworth in the opening round of the qualifying event of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year.

Devvarman, ranked 161, has been seeded 27 in the qualifiers and is up against a player who is ranked as low as 1712.

Teen sensation Yuki Bhambri will play Czech Republic’s Jan Minar, the World No. 245.

Prakash Amritraj will play against Germany’s Andre Begemann. — PTI
